RE: Getting rid of annoying background
ProxRocks , Rutland Herald page doesn't change much except for the area around the top . The main contents of the page are still bright .

RE: Getting rid of annoying background
At first I thought Oddysey's idea of "skinning" could be true because it sounded like something those football forums (often run by very competitive people) would do to visitors who come from an enemy site (and I had orig signed up at U of Miami). But I don't think that's the case because I remembered that it doesn't happen when Proxomitron is bypassed. Also, it's happening even when I'm not signed in.
As for sites that aren't dimmed by the filters, I've had to create my own to dim some of them and often add background .gifs to the hosts blocklist A good example of one that the filters don't get is http://mail.google.com/mail/ |

RE: Getting rid of annoying background
I decided to sign up and get a username (was "guest" the original poster)
Does anyone else think dimming bright backgrounds deserves it's own thread? I think it would be great to get everyone's best ideas and filters together so that they could be streamlined into something more efficient and effective. I would certainly add the filters I'm currently using, which in combination, do a fairly good job, but are probably bloated or crudely constructed. |

RE: Getting rid of annoying background
The "Remove: Webpage Background " filter works perfectly now with your other filter . The example page of the Rutland Herald is nicely toned down . I can tweak the colors . Thanks Prox , Oddysey , and Zoltan ; my aging eyes can't take the real bright pages even with my monitor brightness toned down .
