mzoerd,

I must be slipping. I only get the Invision default skin, whether I like it or not. So I disabled Proxo for a moment, tried the others, and they're OK, but I'll stick with good ol' trusty default, thank you very much.

How come you get something else, I don't know. Are you letting Proxo filter this site, or is it bypassed? Perhaps something in my Proxo configuration is causing the skin to default to Invision Power Board (8), I don't know. (I'm using most of the basic default settings, with about 15 or 16 filters I wrote myself added into the mix. But nothing I wrote would affect the forum's skin, so.....)

Oddysey, I do not understand how come you get the Invision default skin unless you have a cookie for this site that never get deleted. I delete all cookies at the end of each day. My default for some reason is Blue (13) -- I happen to really like the Invision default skin.

My proxo config is the one produced by sidki3003 [I like his work] -- and sometimes I use JD's . I do not have sufficient knowledge yet to determine if either configs do anything that impacts my viewing this forum.

mozerd,

Ah, yes, I have the answer: I do keep the http://www.kye-u.com cookie. Along with four other forums I visit everyday, I keep these because it's a royal pain in the tush to have to manually log in, then reconfigure each time I do that. Meh.

I've checked the cookies, and they don't contain anything I don't want them to have. Moreover, if I didn't trust the site's authors to be honest in the first place, I wouldn't be going back at all, let alone every day. The only reason I leave Proxo enabled is to be able to see the sites my way, as Scott intended. I don't use it to filter out bad content from my trustworthy sites, only to arrange the contents for my viewing pleasure. [lol]

I know that you are deathly afraid of cookies, and I am too - I wipe all others except these five. But if the rest of us trust Kye-U to not abuse our visitation to his site, then I'm certain that you can do the same without any fears.

And FWIW, Invision is a pretty popular package. There are numerous sites out there using the default skin, and it gets boring after about the 10th one. -_- Dead

Hi Oddysey , I am curious about the 15-16 filters you wrote specific to your needs in addition to Proxo basic . For those of us who don't know beans about writing this stuff , are there some generic ones that you could share with us . I find that Yahoo's Proxo forums is a decent source for good filters which I have been using daily . OTOH , I'm always concerned about filter conflicts . Any pearls and words of wisdom ? Have a great day ! Ralph

Ralph;

I'm caught between a rock and a hard place - thanks for putting me there! :o Big Teeth

I'm more than happy to share, but I wanna make sure I don't just toss things out like they were candy. As you noted, there are certain things one can do, and some things that one shouldn't do. When one publishes a lone filter, one assumes responsibility for supporting anyone using that filter. A whole filter set, OTOH, is much easier to maintain, ala JD and sidki.

But don't give up the ghost just yet. As Kye-U noted in another thread, we need to start posting filters in our own database. I'll snatch out a few, and submit them. I'll try to keep the explanations of my rationale down to one page, or even less! <_<

Moreover, I'm also going to be opening myself up for a lot of criticism. I do things that work, but they don't always look elegant. That's what I was referring to above, about the rock, etc. I'll have to take some lumps as I learn better ways to get things done. Hopefully, my ego will look good as a multi-colored entity - it's sure to be bruised. A lot. Wink

Stick around, me bucko, the party's just getting started!! :P
