Shonen Knife
Possibly irrelevant as far as the forum is concerned, but not maybe as far as Scott was concerned, given Proxomitron is/was Shonenware.

Anyway, their support drummer died 2-3 days ago:

That's terrible news.

This is very relevant to the Proxomitron program.

R.I.P. Mana "China" Nishiura

I hope the other three band members overcome their injuries and sadness.

Well, I know the band was close to Scott's heart - one of these days I will go out and get a CD of theirs. :-)

Should point out that Shonen Knife weren't in the van - China had recently joined the Japanese metal band DMBQ. However, Scott would have been familiar with her, since she was in the line-up 2001-04.

There's a pic of her drumming here:

Apparently she became somewhat of a drumming animal if you sat her behind a kit. :-) Can't say that I've often seen a drumkit in flames, although I have seen the monitor speaker of a metal band literally burst into fire. :-) The band ignored it and kept on playing. :-) The cause was a loaned monitor and mismatched impedance BTW.

Anyway, to add to DMBQs woes, seems that their travel insurance wasn't high enough, so they'll get walloped with US hospital bills on top of dealing with her death. Mind you, some supporters are apparently having a whipround via Paypal, so hope it goes OK.
