How fast are you getting pages from this server?
Is it just me, or has this server suddenly gone south?????
It's taking an average of 18 to 20 seconds just to start displaying something on the screen, and about 10 more seconds to finish d/l'ing and displaying the rest of the content. I'm on a fractional T-1, so if anyone does, I really get to say: WTH???????? Oddysey I'm no longer in the rat race - the rats won't have me! |

confirmed...
15 to 20 second load times... and the occasional minute PLUS for the themed icons... |

This page was a bit sluggish, but nothing like that ... maybe 8 seconds to fully load, a couple to mostly load. Index loaded much quicker, about 5 seconds till the progressmeter/throbber stopped moving, less till it looked loaded.
This isn't using tor, is it? Even then, that's awfully slow.

Just now it seems to be going pretty fast. It takes me about 2 seconds to load each page in Firefox and I have a 1.5 Mbps line, which I think is close to a T1, right?

Shea,
Yep, T-1's official speed is designated at 1.54Mbps. By fractional, I pay for, and thereby reserve, some amount less than that. I used to have a 1/2 fraction (pretty much the standard DSL speed of 768Kbps), but I've upped that to 3/4, or 1024Kbps. That's d/l, of course. My u/l speed is still locked to 256Kbps. Guess they don't want me to compete as a server, eh? Logged in about 2, maybe 2.5 hours later - still dreadful, but once it starts, it loads pretty quickly - down to about 15 -18 seconds total time, start to finish. Not exactly what I'd call efficient, n'est-ce pas? Still and all, I've got to have my multi-daily UOPF fix, so I guess I just have to lump it. mumble, gripe, bellyache, moan, wheeze, complain, grumble, crab... Oddysey

My connection is 5000 Mbps / 800 Kbps (Which is around 650 kB/s and 100 kB/s). Soon it will be 6000 Mbps / 800 Kbps.
If only my ISP allowed the customers to run servers of their own, then I would gladly run UOPF right from home. DHost has been a bit sluggish when I took a break from studying for my interval notations quiz tomorrow, but seems to be much faster now

My ISP is updating the connection to 2.5 Mbps this fall/winter and by next year it's suppose to be up to 7 Mbps which will be awsome! I can upload right now at around 100 kb/s so I think my upload speed is somewhere around 800 kb/s too. My ISP doesn't have any bandwith limits or anything, so right now It's pretty good.
And Kye-U, I highly doubt you're at 5000 Mbps. I think your download speed would be a little faster, LOL. {=(~::[Shea]::~)=} How 'bout you sideburns, you want some of this milk? This fading text is pretty cool, eh? I bet you wish you had some. |

I know, but 5000 Mbits is damn fast. It says on the Roger's website that it's at 6 Mbps right now, I wonder why you haven't upgraded yet because I think they just have to chnage something on their side.

They will manually upgrade all customers to 6 Mbps soon. I'm patiently waiting xD

The pages load quickly for me, but I have blocked all images from here and just print alt text in their place. I also do not filter cookies from this site by content, as I do for just about everyone else.

Logging in after about 12 more hours, I see that everything is lickety-split.
Of course, it's 1:30 in the AM here on the West Coast of beautiful downtown USofA, so that might make a difference. Perhaps it's just a loading issue - requests versus server power versus bandwidth. And Kye-U, Shea's right - 5000 MEGA bits per second would be 5 GIGA bits per second, right? If Rogers is offering that kinda speed, I'm moving up there to Canuckistan tomorrow morning! Oddysey I'm no longer in the rat race - the rats won't have me! |

Better now, but for the past day or so, it's been 0 kb per hour!

And earlier today, I got the same speeds as nxIsle. But just now, about 1:00am EDT, the forums just about popped onto my screen.
Sorta makes ya wonder, don't it? Oddysey I'm no longer in the rat race - the rats won't have me! |
