I've been using Kerio 2.something for quite some time (laptop only, desktop is NIS 2004)...

Today, I just gave version 4.0.14 a trial run (again, laptop only)...
It seems to take "forever" to load at boot-up and uses quite a bit more resources...

I'm about ready to jump back down to 2.something...

Feedback from Kerio users would be appreciated...
Thanks in advance...

I used to use Kerio 2.xx and liked it a lot. Have never tried the newer versions. There is a forum with a lot of Kerio users here They should be able to give you advice if you don't get any here.

Hi "~Guys~",
Have You ever tried "Outpost" firewall? It's loaded with a ton of features including "DNS Caching", Configuration Pre-Sets, Active content filtering for e-mails & Web-pages. Learn Features. And in case of an "attack", it will block and refuse any connection from the "attackers" IP, submask, and will block localhost in case of a DoS attack. And it's real easy on the resources. And the only difference that I can see from the Free version and the Pro version is that the Pro version can be "password protected. The ONLY THING You might want to do if You choose to try it, is disconnect from the Net, install it and Click on the "HELP" tab at the top of the Main dialog box, and "Untick" Automatically Check for updates" because as soon as You connect to the NET, it will do just that. Other than that, I've got no complains & I've used Outpost for a couple of years. Here is the link where You can read about it, and or, download it.

Best Wishes,
"~JaK~" Smile!

I used to use Outpost; it's a nice firewall and they have a good support forum. Also used Sygate. Right now I'm using TPF.

Seems Outpost and TPF are both 'paid for' firewalls...

I want a 'freebie' for the laptop - which only accesses the 'net on a very limited basis...

The desktop relies on NIS 2004, therein is MY 'paid for' firewall preference...

Kerio is a freebie...
Any other freebies, than I'm all ears...

Outpost is free. The pro version isn't.
