hi, if ever i want to do some anonymous surfing i use JAP which i like, but is abit slow. but, i know if you put 127.0.0.1:4001 in Proxo's Proxy Selector and click test you will get an error, i think because it isn't a proper proxy address just part of the configuration?

Today for the first time i was trying out anonymous proxy lists in Proxo's proxy selector and every time i pressed test i got an error, i know that's fairly common though. but, i wanted to find out, does Proxo's proxy test work? if i put a working address:port in will it confirm it works? thanks. i know this may be abit cheeky, but does anyone have a working address i can try out? thanks again

I've never used Proxomitron's Proxy Test feature because it never worked for me Sad

I test a Proxy by going here:

I typed in the proxy test 127.0.0.1:8080 (the port proxomitron uses) and it worked for me. Here's my log:

I don't have JAP to test it out, but I think the proxy checker works. I also checked the anonymous proxy server at http://www.anonym.to (80.190.192.50:80) and it responded fine.

I tried using the proxy tester in Proxomitron, and it worked most of the time, but was slow. I prefer to use Nettools:
http://www.all-nettools.com/toolbox

The test is Proxy test. It is a good tester to check image handling as well, because the response is in an image.

I was playing around with this a little more and I think it has to be an HTTP proxy and not a SOCKS proxy. All the socks proxies I tested failed even if they worked through FlashFXP (FTP program). SO I went on http://www.samair.ru and found some HTTP proxies and they worked fine. Go to this address to find some anonymous HTTP proxies. Not all of them work so try multiple ones. If you want one to test, here is a live one.

Proxy Page: http://www.samair.ru/proxy/index.htm
Live Proxy: 212.24.125.9:80

I'm posting this message through proxo through this proxy right now!

I don't think Samair proxies are really trustworthy. Are they?
And do they keep logs?

If you don't want to use those, you can go their forums where people request servers and share their lists.

I'm not real sure that You can test the "J.A.P" proxies with Proxo's Proxy tester. Here is why. In order to test a proxy, . .a couple of packets gets sent through a port on the Proxy in question, . .then if the packets returns back to You the proxy is "Alive" up and running. If the packets doesn't return then the test says that the Proxy is either down or dead. Since the only ports that You can access on the JAP Proxies are 443 coming from the JAP client-software, . .I don't think that PRoxo's Proxy tester can test it. Also, . .I'm not sure what Port on Your Machine that the return packets are received on, . . .so if Your Fire-wall has them blocked out, . .again You will receive "PRoxy Down".
I have experienced this using other proxy testing software.
Anyway, . .just my two cents worth, . .Smile!
