Problems in accessing sites

I have WIN ME with Opera as default browser.I also have McAfee 8.0 , kerio 2.1.5 alongwith patched prox ( with Kye-u set of filters ), DNSKong and edexter on my computer. I also have a host file in place.

My surfing experience with above configuration has been tremendous and rewarding excepting for following glitches ;

1. many a time sites are only accessed on the second attempt . First attempt being confirmed as a failure , after a time lag of often upto 60 seconds , with msg " proxomitron is not able to find the site ". what is the possible explanation and the remedy.

2. many sites not accessed ( eg dslreports.com , yahooforums etc ) with site manager indicating in one case that this may be due to blocking of cookies py prox.

Any way of getting around this problem.

Thanks in advance.

RE: Problems in accessing sites
I have noticed DNSKong blocking many sites for no apparent reason.
Do you leave open the DNSKong announcer window?
It shows the domain in red if it is blocking it.
If so, you must add it to the DNSKong's pass list,
then double click the DNSKong tray icon to reload it.
Be absolutely sure the site is spelled right before you pass it.
You should type it in yourself to ensure against passing a phishing site.
If the site is still blocked, but not showing at all in DNSKong,
windows or your browser may be using the old blocked address.
Sometimes restarting your browser will fix this.

I also have to hit reload on sites not blocked by DNSKong.
I do not know why this is.

If you find ALL sites suddenly blocked, shut down DNSKong and restart it.
If DNSKong is given too large a list (30k+ entries) it often gets stuck in an infinite loop.

You also mention using eDexter.
If you are using its PAC feature to block ad sites,
you must determine whether eDexter is blocking the site.
If the site is NOT shown in DNSKong the first time you try it,
either proximodo or eDexter is probably blocking it.
Proximodo, unlike Proxomitron, gives no clear indication that it blocked the site, so you must open the Proximodo log window to see.

If it shows no activity when you reload, eDexter blocked the site.
This happens a lot, because most eDexter lists have many wildcard entries.
Add
+D domain
to eDexter's list ABOVE the first wildcard entry to pass the entire domain.
Usually opening the site in a new tab or window will reload eDexter,
but sometimes one must restart the browser.
Just hitting reload never works.
