Combatting Spam
In order to combat bot registration, today I have installed a pretty innovative captcha plugin (30 minutes ago, so with this we can see if it's working):

It's a random drag-and-drop game.

Of lesser (but still important) priority is looking into options to see what we can do about the accounts that have been created over the years. One likely criteria would be looking at when the account was last accessed (i.e. logged in at least once after registration), and going from there.

RE: Combatting Spam
I'm not a fan of captchas (or registration Wink) but the rate of spam registrations is troubling.

I've read that the main value of this captcha routine is ease of use and that it is beatable.
Non-english speakers should be able to handle it. Hope it helps. Seems to be working.

Shame to prune lurkers or supporters but the spammers have taken handles that real people might want.
