No Flash toggle Utube
I don't like Flash and don't have it installed on Fx on my host computer. But it is installed on Fx 10 enterprise (as well as the IE8 version) on a guest machine running on VMWare Workstation 7. The OS is XP Pro SP2 (same as my host OS). I have no toggle switch at Utube. Flash just starts playing. It is version 11.2.202.228. I played Flash video at HawaiiNewsNow and there I have a toggle switch.
I tried IE8 at Utube and I have no toggle there either. The flash video just immediately starts playing. It doesn't seem to matter what config file is loaded as this happens with the latest as well as Sidki 2010 and 2009. Is this a known issue with Utube that I didn't know about because I seldom use Flash? Or is there something else going on? |

RE: No Flash toggle Utube
i've noticed the same at YouTube...
i've not noticed it anywhere but YouTube as far as Flash "sneaking past" our toggle... i used a different toggle, so i guess i thought maybe it was "just me"... i'll see if i can find something, unless JJoe beats me to this one... i'll likely not be able to investigate until tomorrow morning or so... agree highly, i don't want Flash 'gyrating' until i "tell it to" by clicking the "go button", so to speak... and i actually "resize" my Flash by dragging-and-dropping the edges... not "perfect", but useable enough for the few times i load up Flash... |

RE: No Flash toggle Utube
interesting, just a quick glimpse shows some very strange code...
Code: <script> i mean, you can "see" the words 'embed', 'height', 'width', et cetera, but they are all written with "\u00##" 'codes'... |

RE: No Flash toggle Utube
wow, i hope too many sites don't stumble into this...
javascript written with UNICODE characters as a way to make it around web filters or even "parental blocks"... (is there any wonder i BLOCK SCRIPTS BY DEFAULT, but i digress, lol...) \u003c = < ie, we can "see" that \u003cembed is actually <embed \u0072 = r ie, we can "see" that s\u0072c is actually src et cetera... a handy Unicode Character converter - http://www.fileformat.info/info/unicode/char/search.htm one method will be to create a lookup table where whenever Proxo bumps into a \u00##, it replaces it with the equivalent HTML entity... anyone have any other ideas? a javascript at the </html> that parses the page and does the replacement? (but too late then? it's already made it past Proxo...) a user-agent that tells YouTube our browser is too dumb to decipher unicode so that YouTube doesn't send us unicode in the first place? some sort of character-encoding javascript written in at <body>? edit: adding this link here for future reference - http://www.rishida.net/tools/conversion/...script:-1. edit2: http://www.alanwood.net/demos/ansi.html edit3: http://www.ascii.cl/htmlcodes.htm update - actually, i'm now thinking it will be as "easy", wink, wink, as having Proxo do some javascript algebra whenever a \u00## is encountered and replacing that with the algebraic equivalent &#---; and then our already-present ASCII-Table list can convert it the rest of the way... still pondering... |

This is known, http://prxbx.com/forums/showthread.php?t...3#pid14653 , and continues. I prefer something like this, Code: [Patterns] to a toggle at youtube. It was removing some things and turning off autoplay. HTH Edit: Changed filters date to published date. |

RE: No Flash toggle Utube
So, do we need to use both ProxRocks' and jjoe's filters?

RE: No Flash toggle Utube
no changes to the "SIDKI 2011-12-22rc1" config 'at this time'...
it seems best to keep the "Toggle Flash 10.09.19" filter that is included in that config... ultimately, we will need to add a site-specific filter for YouTube... i'll be digging into it off-and-on over the next several days, not sure how effectively that will unfold... |
