RE: youtube html5 video tag
Yes, I agree. I need some way to enable it also. Every Opera extension I have tried for Opera 11 Alpha sucks royally. NONE are of any use. I haven't tried the extension mentioned here but all I have tried are terrible. I had HTML5 and WebM videos working fine at youtube with Opera 10.62 and then something messed that up. I only have the first Opera 11 Alpha snapshot. It is extremely stable but it doesn't do HTML5 but, of course, 10.62 does.

I had this mentioned on Sidki forum some time ago....pooh-pooed yet HTML 5 is here NOW and Proxo doesn't handle it. However, I think Proxo is only PART of the problem. What I need from Proxo is a toggle switch. And that was pooh-pooed here as not being needed yet...well, of course, it is needed NOW not months, years from now.

Have you noticed that you will keep getting logged out of the youtube HTML5 trial for no seeming reason? I don't think that is Proxo.

Can you run the the HTML5 WebM vidoes that Opera points you to that are NOT youtube ones? I could several months ago on 10.62 but haven't been able to run those in some time either. I don't think that is Proxo either because when I first got 10.62, and joined the youtube beta test for HTML 5 and WebM, as long as I put the additional information Opera requires in the address bar I was able to play all the youtube HTML5 WebM videos although I had to keep resubscribing to the youtube beta. Then suddenly I couldn't play any of them and still can't.

RE: youtube html5 video tag
Seems to work for me.
Opera 10.63: went to http://www.youtube.com/html5 , clicked "Join the HTML5 Trial", played video at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bNF_P281Uu4 HTML5 WEBM 360p.
ChromePlus 1.5.0.0: went to http://www.youtube.com/html5 , clicked "Join the HTML5 Trial", played video at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bNF_P281Uu4 HTML5 360p.

However, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zlfKdbWwruY found by adding "&webm=1" to a search url, http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=Where+the+Hell+is+Matt&webm=1 , is flash only for me.

So, finding videos that use HTML5 could be a problem.

RE: youtube html5 video tag
Here what i did and it plays the webm videos.
1. clear the cache
2. bypass sidki
3. click on any webm video and it works.

however, if i turn proxo back on. It just give me a black and blank box where the video suppose to appear!

I also probe the people on opera forum to see what they have to say!

RE: youtube html5 video tag
Now they play for me with Proxo on. BUT they no longer play in full screen and only at 380p which is junk. I was unenrolled again when I went to the Youtube HTML5 experiment page. I never unenrolled myself. I was watching them full screen and I mean full screen on a 19" LCD that is NOT widescreen but they all filled the entire screen...none of that crap where you get top and bottom with no video and the width is for widescreen only. Plus, I was watching them at much higher resolution. They are not worth it at low resolution and no full screen. So, I still don't know what the problem is and why for awhile there on 10.61 and 10.62 I could see them correctly and now can't. Maybe the reason I could not see them at all was because I was trying to avoid rebooting. I was able to go 39 days without a reboot. I have no cache of any type on Opera so that is not a reason why I couldn't see them.

RE: youtube html5 video tag
I think it all works for me but my connection can't keep up. Pausing play allows the videos to fill the buffer but takes some of the fun out of it.

I believe enrollment is controlled by a cookie. You could have lost it.

High definition isn't always available and must be user activated. Clicking on the resolution under the video may allow you to select another definition. 360p appears to be the usual default resolution.

Full screen appears to be a combination of the full screen button under the video and the browser's full screen option. I have a wide screen that is full.

To find some HD HTML5 videos I used
http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=shonen+knife&high_definition=1&webm=1
Replace "shonen+knife" with your terms.

http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=where+hell+matt&high_definition=1&webm=1

Don't forget to pick up the cookie at http://www.youtube.com/html5
or add &html5=True to the end of the video's address.

Videos made for HD look better than the converted old movies.

Have fun.

I had 5 youtube cookies and I never allow youtube/Google cookies except the ones connected to the HTML5 experiment. I checked each cookie carefully and what I saw made me decide to boycott HTML5 at youtube just as I boycott Flash there. I deleted all of the youtube cookies. I closed Opera and restarted it. I then went to the youtube HTML5 experiment page again and it said I was not enrolled (I had enrolled again earlier when I was checking the youtube cookies and I did NOT get another cookie when enrolling). Now, all the youtube cookies are deleted. I reenrolled in the HTML5 experiment and I tried playing one of the webM videos. It knew that I had played that video several days ago. It must be keeping cookies elsewhere besides my browser. This is the kind of crap I can't stand with Flash Player and the reason I don't have Flash Player except on IE6 and IE6 can't play youtube videos as Google won't let it. I use Flash Player only for speed tests (and a rare video such as "Don't Touch My Junk" that I can play away from youtube) because I hate having to constantly monitor Flash player for how sneaky it is about cookies and settings, etc. I though HTML5 would be different. Naive of me I suppose.

I later temporarily allowed youtube to add the cookies back (the ones I can see and control in the browser) and I see that one of them is a list of all HTML5 videos I have played at youtube. So, there are two sets of cookies and both of them retain lists of everything you play. I don't know where to find the second set of cookies so I can get rid of them. I suppose they are in some Flash Player like settings? UGH. Not worth it. I had expected better things of HTML5. Sad

Anyhow, none of the cookies have anything to do with being logged into the HTML5 experiment. That appears to log you out when you close the tab or the browser.

I did get full screen working and now I remember as you said higher than 360p should show as a choice if it is available and I didn't see anything available on the ones I played. What makes HTML5 better than Flash is the sound. It is far superior to what you get with Flash at least on this computer.

RE: youtube html5 video tag
There are a lot of possibilities (add the Proxomitron, browser quirks, etc) and exactly why can be difficult to discover and explain but for me...

I have Opera set to delete all that it allows at exit. The Proxomitron makes all my youtube cookies session only, anyway. So, all cookies, cache, and DOM storage should be lost when I close Opera.

Before enrolling I played some flash videos and had a cookie PREF=gl=US&hl=en&vq=2 .
After enrolling that cookie was PREF=vq=2&f2=40000000&gl=US&hl=en .
I think the &f2=40000000 part has something to do with HTML5 because removing it unenrolls me. (Don't reload the page after deleting cookies. Opera may regenerate the old cookies.)
However, the cookie value is not necessary. An HTML5 url (or perhaps fate or misfortune) may do.

Opera does have DOM storage but just removing the cookie value unenrolls me. I haven't looked to see what is stored.

As for cookies, privacy, and fun, there are ways to block|fake cookies but youtube will still have the IP that requested the video and some cookies may be required. Adding
Code:
[^/]++youtube.com/ $SET(0=b_cookie.) $SET(sCookieB=.watched_video_id_list.)
to Exceptions-U with sidki's set using level 3,4, or 5 may remove the 'list' cookie.

BTW, for people having HTML5 problems at youtube, I can see that sidki's optional Header filter "!-|||||||||||| URL: Block Ad URLs" may block the videos.

Have fun.

By "remove the 'list' cookie" I meant to say, prevent it from being created.
Existing cookies would need to be deleted.

By "may block the videos" I meant to say, it may block some of the HTML5 videos.
It may block some of the flash videos as well.
