Occasional problems

Is it just me, or is anyone else here having an occasional problem getting a page (or the whole site) to appear? As of this moment (July 22, 10:00am local), this is what I see when I attempt to access my PM's:

<span style='color:red'>Parse error: parse error, unexpected $ in /home/proxo/public_html/proxo/forums/sources/Messenger.php on line 2172</span>

Kye-U, you're gonna have to stop eating those Twinkies and Pizzas late at night, man. They might be starting to affect your quality control. (As an ex-programmer, that's the best advice I can possibly give you. Wink [lol] )

I got the same parse error last night, too. In my heightened state of over-tired neurosis,I assumed you'd done something very clever with a script to block my I.P. *blush*

Hmmm, I'm not sure I can correctly picture those colors in my imagination - beet red, stark white and shadow black. Can you be more specific, please? Big Teeth

Kye-U;

The problem is still there, but only for the Messages.php file. Line 2185 is the current error.

I'm just wondering how a file, particularly a php functions file, can be "too long". Not that I'm an expert or anything, but that does seem weird to me too.

EDITS: That line number just changed to 2103. WTF?

*Ahem*...I've been trying to upload that file with around 5 different FTP Clients, the problem is still there.

I think I need KmrDrow to have a look Wink He's been offline (MSN) for a while now, so I guess we have to wait for a bit.

Ah, good thing I'm neither a lawyer or a doctor!! But speaking strictly as a layman, that's a pretty bad cough you've got there. I suggest that you take two pages of EHOWA, and email me in the morning! [lol] Big Teeth [lol]

BTW, sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but the error has moved to line 34, still in the Messages.php file.

Should work now.

Mysteriously, a ";" disappeared after a variable...

Kye-U- I don't know if this is a forum error, but I just tried to upload an image and wasn't able to.It was a jpeg, only,I'm using the GIMP now. Therefore, although the extension is jpeg,it is technically a GIMP file. That might have a bearing on the matter.

(silently screams "ARGH!what have I done, there's no way of disassociating the GIMP"..)

Maybe's it's an invalid JPEG file? :o

Just as I feared!

The GIMP has great functionality as an image editor, but in hindsight,I wish I hadn't associated it with everything!

Ah well..I'll boot into Mandrake if I ever need to upload images which could be considered of benefit to the Proxo Community.Goodnight.

Problem solved.I just uninstalled THE GIMP.After which I reinstalled it-without associating it with any file types whatsoever.
