sidki-config: Feb 13 2009
Hi all, a new config version is ready.

ChangeLog Wrote:February 13th 2009
User Interface:
Those filters that intercept automatic redirects by turning them into
links, hence require user interaction, are inactive now in the config's
Standard Mode (but active in Advanced Mode and above).

Technical:
Adjustments in browser-sensitive code, in order to handle new browser
versions (incl. Google Chrome).

Content:
Filter additions and updates to deal with recent trends: more dynamic
content, increasing popularity of XML, more sophisticated user tracking
methods.

Cut back - or improve - the most troublesome (i.e., heuristic) filters.

Various scattered changes.

Welcome Kye-U (Google filters) and ProxRocks (Yahoo filters) to the club!

edit: Silent update Feb 15, 5 PM GMT, fixing this bug (thanks 43unite).

Have fun Smile!

RE: sidki-config: Feb 13 2009
Incredible Sidki, you changed a lot of filters in one and half month!! Many many thanks friend!! Smile!

By the way, would be interesting to know, what changes the people do to the default config to put it how they like.
- I enabled: Show kills
- I disabled: SSLeay/OpenSSL, always cache, session cookies (i control cookies in the browser)
- Deleted filters: ...
- Added filters: Faster acces for debugging and for bypassed source
- Renamed some filters wich doesn't modify anything to have a clearer Log window of filters wich could be breaking a page.
Most of them start by Protect or Mark, i renamed them adding ".(10 blank spaces)" at the beginning

RE: sidki-config: Feb 13 2009
What I do:
- Switch to Advanced Mode
- Uncheck "Session Cookies by Default" filter
I prefer using the browser itself to manage cookies so no unwanted cookies will kick in when
proxomitron is bypassed sometimes
- Add some site specific filters
- Copy back the blockfile User Additions from the previous version

9) add Google Alias-inator header filter
10) add Firefox and Opera search bar header filters
11) add Kill FavIcon header filters
12) check-mark Freeze Animated GIFs in Proxo Config
13) enable Prox Menu links to open in new window
14) extend iFrame Toggle to Onsite URLs
15) disable Resizing: Block all but Popups
16) enable [four] Domain-check Ads-by-URL filters
17) enable Block iFrame in Scripts

38) import My Site-Specific Filters section [240+ filters, ~1/3 enabled]

i think that's pretty much it, lol...

oh yeah - 39) rename all .ptxt's to .txt's... none of the "above" is performed on the downloaded file, it is kept as is, i copy to a different name, make all the changes to that file... .ptxt to .txt, on the other hand, is performed "all around"...

another - 40) enable CSS: Normalize small Fonts

RE: sidki-config: Feb 13 2009
OK then,

Here's my way of updating to the latest sidki config.Cool

1) Extract the new config to a folder like c:\newproxo

2) Compare my existing default.cfg to sidki.oob using WinMerge
Using it's file comparison feature, I overwrite all updated filters, while containing my prefered enabled/disabled actions, and keeping my few site specific filters

3) Do a directory compare of my old sidki_l_2009-01-14 and the new sidki_l_2009-02-13 directories, and synchronize the changes from the new into the old, file by file, yet keeping my personal additions in file like IncludeExclude-U.ptxt

4) Once everything has been adopted so that it now is the new sidki config, I now copy everything to the newest sidki_l_2009-02-13.

Takes some work, but the file- & directory comparing is for me (and ability of copying changes between 2 files is great), the easiest way to get it all done correctly, takes about half an hour till everything is fine and up-to-date.Smile!

RE: sidki-config: Feb 13 2009
no biggie, but noticed that the Set-Cookie2: Block Cookies 5.10.02 [vm] (d.0) (In) filter is "out of place" (according to Proxo) and gets "repositioned" by Proxo if changes are saved via Proxo instead of a Notepad-like editor...

is that intentional?

RE: sidki-config: Feb 13 2009
Been running Advanced on Linux w/Firefox 3.0.6 since early this afternoon with no issues.

Thank you very much, Sidki. Nice surprise!

add several header filters of my own and from Kye-U
add my own filter to put my own config change date into GUI
add my own filter to place 'Proxo active' symbol into browser title
disable 'sound notification'
add a bunch of my own site specific filters
added a few changes as indicated by ProxRocks & Kye-U (thanks guys)
add z12's 'Toggle Flash'
add Kye-U's 'Youtube High Quality'

Wow! MAHALO, this is great. Smile!

I only needed to add KyeU's Google Suggest filter, uncheck the Make all Cookies Session Only and uncheck the Google Alternate Display filter and the Alternate Display for mozillazine forums.

RE: sidki-config: Feb 13 2009
Very interesting read!

I don't have a similar check list, because for me it's the other way around, getting from a personal config to a public one.

However, i almost always run it in Advanced Mode, Half-SSL, "Filter GIFs", w/o "Never alter Page/Link Styles", w/o "Log common Nuisances".

The sort order in the "Headers" window is slightly different than in the config file. Latter counts.

RE: sidki-config: Feb 13 2009
Many thanks for the final release, cheers to Sidki and to all who contributed Hail

My only customizations to this filterset are disabling the make cookies session only filters and adding some entries to IncludeExclude-U.ptxt (mostly to enable half-ssl on some sites)

Cheers
