Trouble with log-in
I just joined and can't get logged in. It just goes back to the main page after I hit enter. I turned on Active scripting and session cookies. What else is required?
Thanks, SeaLily |

RE: Trouble with log-in
It sounds like a cookies problem
![]() Depending on your browser and setup, you'll have to either add prxbx.com to your Trusted Sites list (in IE), or add it to the exceptions list in Firefox. |

RE: Trouble with log-in
I added the site to the Trusted Zone but I was only able to log-in with Proxom by-passed (after several attempts). I'm surprised the server didn't block me out. Once I was logged in, then I could turn Proxom back on. This is probably a long shot, but do you have any idea what filter might be blocking the log-on?

RE: Trouble with log-in
Are you using the cookie or setcookie filter?

RE: Trouble with log-in
SeaLily;
Welcome to the Proxo forums. ![]() It is indeed a cookie, which is a common theme amongst most forums or boards of this nature. The solution, as you found out, is to simply disable Proxo, sign in (with the "remember me" box checked), then sign out gracefully. (Upper-most white box, end of the line that starts "Welcome back, SeaLily.....") Now you can safely engage Proxo, bring up the forum in your browser, and you should be logged in automatically. The thing is, Proxo has a few default cookie filters that will force the browser to set any permanent cookies as temporary. When you leave the browser session, the cookie goes away, leaving you in deep kimchee the next time you want/need it. You could search Proxo's filter set, and turn off the cookie filters individually, but for the most part, just doing a general disable for a few moments won't hurt, and it's much faster. You could do worse than to ask ProxRocks to show you how to make a fake cookie, one that will be recognized by your favorite website, but is totally false when it comes to data that personally identifies you or your machine. HTH Oddysey I'm no longer in the rat race - the rats won't have me! |

RE: Trouble with log-in
lol, i was "half way" thru the thread and was tellin' myself, "a fake cookie is the solution", then i see Odd's post - how 'twilight zone' is that?...
here is the thread where i walked _Ralph_, bogape, et alia through the process - http://www.castlecops.com/t181362-Castle...cache.html hope that helps... edit: oh yeah, except for on this forum, the IncExc-U entry will look "something like" this - Code: prxbx.com/ |

Hi All,
Thanks for the welcome Oddysey and everyone's helpful responses. ProxRocks I'm a little confused with the Fake Cookie filter. From reading the CastleCops post, the filter should be like this? [Blocklists] <- cookie list?? List. prxbx = "..\ prxbx.\ prxbx.txt" Save my cache files and move to Proxom directory. What's the purpose of doing this? [HTTP headers] In = FALSE Out = TRUE Key = "! : Redir: prxbx cache (out)" URL = http://www.prxbx.com/(*.(gif|css|png|ico...$RDIR(http://local.ptron/ prxbx /\1) Does this "1&$LST(prxbx)" reference the URL: Alias Redirector? If it does, would it matter that this has been modified due to MS change in dot security? I'm not sure where to add: Code prxbx.com/ $SET(0=f_cookie.) $SET(sCookieF=mybbuser=EXTRACT-THIS-FROM-YOUR-*real*-COOKIE) Would this filter still work with the session only filters? |

RE: Trouble with log-in
sorry for the confusion...
a 'fake cookie' is NOT a new filter, so you shouldn't have added any new filters to your config... if you did, please remove any new filters... a 'fake cookie' is ONLY for users of the sidki config - i assume that you are using the latest-and-greatest sidki config? it can be downloaded here - http://www.geocities.com/sidki3003/prox-down.html in the sidki config, you'll find a subfolder in the Lists folder called sidki_l_2007-09-09... in that folder, you will find a file called IncludeExclude-U.ptxt (or is it .txt? i rename all mine as .txt, but sidki has some .ptxt's by default)... at any rate, the aforementioned code goes into the IncludeExclude-U file (i tend to call it the IncExc-U for short)... hth... |

RE: Trouble with log-in
OK, now it's starting to make sense. LOL Thanks for clearing that up ProxRocks. I did download Sidki's config but haven't installed it yet. I want to read through it first - it looks complex. But I'm excited about trying out this idea you guys suggested. I've really fallen behind the trend of all the recent (and not so recent) goodies that are available for this little powerhouse program. That won't happen again; the net changes too much. Gone are the days of setting it and forgetting it if you want to keep a tight system.
