Hi gorgan...Yes...... I wouldn't go thru the hussle of writing a fancy chm but a decent readme is definitely needed.
Here is what i have so far, any suggestions on what needs to be improved are welcome.

sidki3003 Wrote:Hi ProxRocks, it's one of a few temporary lists that get filled while surfing, only live in memory, and get distroyed on Prox exit. It's explained somewhere in Scott's readme or changelog (works for Jak's session-only lists too :-)
I'm curious as to this 'list in memory' scheme...

I mean, let's say you set up JakxPack to use session-only lists that 'live in memory' - is it not true that some of these lists can become quite lengthy?

Does Proxo then become a burden on memory at some point?
When are those 'lists in memory' "cleared"?
At the close of IE? At the close of Proxo? Only after reboot?

Just curious...

Yes, it's a good idea to use a real list for a while to see how fast they grow, before switching to a temporary one.
I use 6 such lists, 5 grow less than 1kb per day. The 6th one is new; i ported the proxy part of Jak's pack to my set. It uses one session-only list and it grows one line per domain (not site). I guess most people don't visit more than 50 domains per day which is 8kb.

The lists are destroyed if you shut down Prox or reload the config or load another config.
Summary: You should restart Prox at least once every 100 days when using temporary lists. Big Teeth

anyone using it with gmail.

sidki,

This configuration is perfectly working with allmost all.

But it is not working with GMail.
with the default filtering turned on, there is no action taking place when i click on any left hand side link such as 'inbox' or on any mail.

Is this some problem with script.

What I need to disable to work with this.

Yeah Sad -- I already tried to get an account to check this, but they don't offer accounts publicly yet.
So here is a standard t'shoot procedure:

Set Prox into bypass mode -> problem still there? -> getting *really* difficult.

Else:
Open your config and below "[Global]" set "MaxCapURL = 100".
Open your bypass list and add "([^/]++.|)google." to it (needs to be removed later).
Go to the page where the problem starts.
Open http://local.ptron/.pinfo/urls/ in another window.
Enter any site to the bypass list that doesn't contain ".google." until the problem goes away.
Then try narrowing down the "([^/]++.|)google." match.

If/when you got the problematic links you can try moving them from the bypass list to IncludeExclude and appending "$SET(keyword=.js.)" to them.

Can't say anything more atm, good luck!

Thanks for the info sidki... I added the gmail to the bypassed list temporarily. Working fine....

Seems that bugingzi is correct, it is using some activex or applet for mail, taking some time to download the stuff for the first time you login....

If I get a new invitation I will forward you sidki so that you can test the mail yourself by creating your own account.

I'm using Firefox and the page load timer is not displayed. When using IE there is no problem.
  • Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7) Gecko/20040620 Firefox/0.9.0+</li>
  • Download Statusbar Extension [edit - removed and retested, still no load timer]</li>

I take it that happens with my out-of-the-box config, so it sounds like something changed in the new Firefox.
I'm still at Gecko/20040511 Firefox/0.8.0+ (don't really like to update most extensions for the new version No Expression ), but i want to install the new one later this week and check that then.

Thanks for the info!

Yes it is basically your out of the box config but with cookie controls removed. I really like the newer builds even though having to install my extensions was a bit of a pain. I save them locally now. Thanks...

Out of curiosity, are these mods recommended in general, or "just" for g-mail users?

You won't need the "Config Control" filters (just added keywords), but the "Start of File" filters got a bit better.
But wait a moment before installing, i forgot a filter (like always), just trying to make it fit to the release config, i'll holler when i'm ready.
