RE: Youtube hight quality?
true dat...

mono is fine for me, for YouTube anyway...

to me, YouTube is "view and FORGET", it's something "quasi-humorous" to do to 'pass the time' or forward via e-mail for "conversation's sake"...
to me, NOTHING on YouTube is anywhere NEAR "important" enough to save onto the local hard drive...
to me, viewing a FOUR-minute 29-second clip without the ability to "fast-forward" is a WASTE of THREE minutes and 29 seconds!!! Big Teeth

therein lies the power of Proxo, we each view the web our OWN way, to our OWN preference...

Long Live Proxo!

Unless you count the number of filters I've added for my personal surfing habits (more than tripling the file size), then I'd have to say yes, some of us do in fact still use Scott's basic "noobie" config set.

EDITed to add:

I share your thoughts on YouTube's value, it's at best a source of humor. The outrageous stuff (meant to provoke, etc.) I leave for those with too much time on their hands. Sinister I once saw a vid (can't find it now) that had a Swedish girl of about 20 shredding a guitar to make Joe Satriani look like a spastic!!!!! (It didn't hurt any that she made Jessica Alba look like a wall, either. Wink) But her best line was "I HATE fricken' jazz", as she rips out a line from trumpeter Al Hirt's rendition of 'I Can't Get Started'. I don't think she really knew her history that well, but Oh Lawdie Me, could that girl play!

Just passin' some time here.......

Likewise!

+If we add &fmt=22, mp4 file, stereo sound ~232 kbps (at least in the video of dancing Matt) If not available the quality will be the standar flv.

+If we add &fmt=X&fmt=Y the quality will be X

If we set fmt=22, and its not available, it's very probable there is a mp4 for fmt=18, but we will see the standar quality, so at this moment it's not a good idea to use fmt22.

Good to know, thanks.

You can easily set what quality value you want (18, 22, etc), in the $SET(qVal=) code in the URL Match.

Thanks Kye-U.

i hate NOT being able to drag the video's scroll bar upstream in the video and "fast-forward" or "rewind"... unless it's just me, one can NOT fast-forward or rewind while using fmt 18 or 22...

I have no trouble dragging the video scroll bar to "fast-forward" or "rewind" when using both fmt 18 and 22 on Firefox 3.0.4.

RE: Youtube hight quality?
i believe the fast-forward/rewind "lack of" on 18|22 is a per-video limitation, not all videos will NOT have that limitation...

however, on 6, ALL videos DO have the ability to fast-forward/rewind...

that's what i seem to be seeing...

RE: Youtube hight quality?
is anyone else seeing that 18's and 22's will not let you fast-forward/rewind?

i've had some 18's and 22's that CRASH my browser when i "attempt" to fast-forward/rewind...

i can't test in Firefox and Opera, to ensure the "secureness" [a myth, but i digress] of these two "safe havens", i do NOT even install the Flash Player for these...

RE: Youtube high quality?
ProxRocks, I have no crashes in firefox 3.0.3. When seeking inside the red bar (downloaded data) no problems, but when i seek outside in the white part the video starts from beginning...

To have a mix between seeking and quality i created the next filter:
It will remove existing fmt tags and add fmt=6, but if you press left win key while requesting the page then will switch to fmt=18.
I added a exception for fmt=22 for not changing it when we write it in the address bar.

Code:
[HTTP headers]
In = FALSE
Out = TRUE
Key = "URL: Youtube: High Quality 6/18 (KeySwitch:L-WIN) {ln}081119 (out)"
URL = "(\w.|)youtube.com/(watch\?v\=|v/)"
Match = "(\1\&fmt=([#0:99])\3\2|\1)$SET(FMT=\3)(^$TST(FMT=22|18))($KEYCHK(^91)$SET(9=$JUMP(\1\2&fmt=18))|(^$TST(FMT=6))$SET(9=$JUMP(\1\2&fmt=6)))"
Replace = "\9$LOG(w$DTM(c):Youtube 6/18)$STOP()"

Test it with my favourite music for creating filters Big Teeth

Thoughts and suggestions are welcome

Updated to 081119: In before versions i needed (^$KEYCHK(^91)) now don't

RE: Youtube high quality?
Z12 posted a similar filter at Castlecops, but actually it wasn't receiving the quality requested. I update it here:

Note: If the quality requested doesn't exist at the servers no video will be seen.
Code:
[Patterns]
Name = "YouTube: add Play link {z12,ln}090110"
Active = TRUE
URL = "(\w.youtube.com/watch\?v\=*)\2(\&*|)"
Limit = 256
Match = "(^(^(<div [^>]+>&&*id=$AV(watch-this-vid)*)))"
        "$SET(vid=\q)$TST(vid=\?v\=([^&]+)\1*)"
Replace = "\2"
          "<a href="http://www.youtube.com/v/\1&fs=1&ap=%2526fmt=0">fmt=0</a>&nbsp;"
          "<a href="http://www.youtube.com/v/\1&fs=1&ap=%2526fmt=5">fmt=5</a>&nbsp;"
          "<a href="http://www.youtube.com/v/\1&fs=1&ap=%2526fmt=6">fmt=6</a>&nbsp;"
          "<a href="http://www.youtube.com/v/\1&fs=1&ap=%2526fmt=13">fmt=13</a>&nbsp;"
          "<a href="http://www.youtube.com/v/\1&fs=1&ap=%2526fmt=17">fmt=17</a>&nbsp;"
          "<a href="http://www.youtube.com/v/\1&fs=1&ap=%2526fmt=18">fmt=18</a>&nbsp;"
          "<a href="http://www.youtube.com/v/\1&fs=1&ap=%2526fmt=22">fmt=22</a>&nbsp;"
          "<a href="http://www.youtube.com/v/\1&fs=1&ap=%2526fmt=34">fmt=34</a>&nbsp;"
          "<a href="http://www.youtube.com/v/\1&fs=1&ap=%2526fmt=35">fmt=35</a>&nbsp;"
          "$SET(vid=)$STOP()"

RE: Youtube high quality?
Hi all, i'm proud to announce a very comfortable filter to use by default high quality in ALL the videos requested from youtube (facebook, blogs, youtube,etc...) It doesn't need to reload the page, it is really really fast, it allows to SEEK in a HQ video*

*= The video start in fmt=18 and it isn't seekable, but pressing the ALT while seeking key the video will revert to the original format from the point you want

It uses my format for HTTP headers, but it hasn't to cause any troubles importing it to another config.

Code:
[HTTP headers]
In = FALSE
Out = TRUE
Key = "URL :0_4. Youtube: HQ fmt=18 (embedded too) (^Key:Alt) {ln}090329"
URL = "\w.youtube.com/get_video\?"
Match = "(\1\&fmt=([#0:99])\3\2|\1)$SET(FMT=\3)(^$TST(FMT=18|22))(^$KEYCHK(^A))$SET(9=\1\2&fmt=18)"
Replace = "$JUMP(\9)$LOG(V$DTM(c),0_4 Youtube HQ $GET(FMT)=>18)$STOP()"

Edit: updated to my last version

RE: Youtube high quality?
While I still pretty much ignore YouTube, I tripped across the following discussion via a very roundabout route. I took a quick look back at this thread, and didn't see this particular item mentioned, so I thought it might be of interest to at least a few of you......

YouTube in widescreen. Shocked

A forum-based discussion covering a couple of methods on how to implement it in your browser, and how to remove it. I foresee Proxo doing all of this very nicely for those that wish it. Big Teeth
