RE: ProxHTTPSProxyMII: Reloaded
Javascript is a necessary evil, and by necessary I mean, a few websites I still need access to use it quite extensively and there's no escaping that (none of them can genuinely justify the use of javascript, specially those with simple fillable forms that could be submitted a thousand different ways without involving a line of javascript, but hey, what do I know?). All I can do is to make this process as smooth and safe as I possibly can, but disabling it altogether is obviously out of the question at the moment.
About the only place out there you can be a 100% certain javascript has no place at all is Freenet (all scripting is filtered out so it makes no matter what people upload or the boolean state of the interpreter), but people love their everyday clearweb garbage and I have given up trying to educate them into migrating to this better place (or any other for that matter). The best way to secure your computer is to have an adequate understanding of how everything works and not let your privacy out to "magic bullet"-type software that is seldom ever truly so. I think a good AV has it's place, and the place it has in my computer is a virtualized environment that I use for testing freshly downloaded files. Anything beyond that, I have little use for, and yes, running anything other than NOD32 is asking for trouble! "He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him" - John 3:36 |
