Ahhh, that is better and green.

I was still seeing hangs at yahoo on "content-length: 0" responses. Including hangs on 200 responses.

So I commented out

and added

Hangs are resolved and connections closed.
However, things seem slower and I'm seeing EOF errors with each "content-length: 0" response

Is my code correct?

I see 'Content-Length' mentioned in proxytool.py but it will take some more study before I completely understand it.
