For the last few days, I have been experiencing javascript errors in yahoo send mail page. I am using Firefox 1.0 and Proxomitron. If I disable proxy in Firefox, the page works.
The javascript errors I get whenever Iclick on Send or Cancel buttons are 'Send_click is not defined' or Cancel_click is not defined'. When I look at the page source, I see onclick for the button calling this Send_click() and send_click is there and it is calling send(). Don't understand why I get the error. Also the email address prompting in yahoo is not working with proxy. Is anyone else experiencing the same problem? I am also checking my filters if I am blocking any specific yahoo/yimg domain. But can't find any so far. thanks nagu |

Hi, and to the forums!I also use Yahoo for my email. Almost since the time they yanked the freebie POP3 service (April 2002), I've had niggling problems with their web-based interface. Probably like you, I refuse to disable Proxo just to get my mail, or send new mail out, for fear that Yahoo will gain unnecessary information from my machine. (I faked every bit of my registration data! [lol]) Hence, I have Proxo fully enabled, and that precludes certain javascripts from running. I have a default filter that basically says "If this is a javascript, replace the language/description with 'Shonenscript'". That almost always kills the script, even though it has loaded into my browser. I don't really know why it is so, but sometimes that filter works, and other times it doesn't. I don't really care to troubleshoot it, as far as I'm concerned, it works at the times I need it to work, so I'm happy. The few times it doesn't work, I don't seem to be getting harmed. If you look closely, you'll see that there are alternate buttons or links for what you want to do. Even with my locked-up-tight config, I can still do everything except d/l an attachment. (But I can view those attachments, and copy/paste them to my local machine with no further problems.) In addition, I have all manner of Yahoo ancilliary sites blocked, as I don't really need a boatload of advertising. *.yimg.com is the primary culprit, and an absolute "must block". A partial list of known Yahoo bu11sh1t sites that I block: [^/]++.yimg.com/ [^/]++.travel.yahoo.com/rmi/ [^.]++.movies.yahoo.com/ [^/]++.ard.yahoo.com/ [^/]++.rd.yahoo.com/ [^/]++.atdmt.com/ [^.]++.alexa.com/ [^.]++.pagead2.googlesyndication.com/ I'm sure there are others, but these seem to be doing the trick about 99% of the time. I also participate in a few Yahoo Groups, and I don't perceive any problems in them, despite the fact that I've blocked these sites. Quote:Also the email address prompting in yahoo is not working with proxy. What's email address prompting? Can't help you there until I learn what you mean. The send button (and cancel) are definitely not working in the compose page. Everything else works. I have to backout, disable proxy(thanks to the proxy button extension) and come into compose screen again to send. Very annoying.
I don't find any alternates to the send and cancel buttons in that page. By email address prompting is when you start typing an email address, you get a drop down with entries from your address book with matching name.(Yahoo's way of keeping up with google). Let me play around with some settings/filters. thanks, Nagu |

If I uncheck "kill Javascript banners", the send button works. Now I need to figure out what I am getting into :-)

As far as I'm concerned, that's like standing up on a chair, waving a large red cape, and shouting "ABUSE ME!" That's why I didn't recognize the bit about "email address prompting". Sorry 'bout that. [rolleyes] Interesting that "Kill JS banners" would also kill some of your buttons. But if the new filter works, then I've learned something too. The yahoo Mail "sign out" link is marked as a tracking link (under Sidki's packs I think... so much merging, now I don't even know hat's going on under the hood)
The yahoo mail Sign Out link can be reduced to Code: http://login.yahoo.com/config/login?logout=1&.done=http://mail.yahoo.com/&.src=ym&.lg=us&.intl=usanyone else notice this? note: yahoo does something wonderful by using what I feel may be a proxy (or at least a redirection)....... click here: http://cn.yahoo.com/*http://www.hotmail.com See? the china yahoo site routes you to hotmail.com !! <span style='font-size:8pt;line-height:100%'><i><span style='color:#0000FF'>Projekt</span> </span><span style='color:#FF0000'>D</span><span style='color:#008200'>F</span><span style='color:#8449a5'>S</span></i> : <b><span style='color:#0000FF'>projekt</span><span style='color:#FF0000'>d</span><span style='color:#008200'>f</span><span style='color:#8449a5'>s</span></b>[at]<span style='color:BLUE'>g</span><span style='color:RED'>m</span><span style='color:#ce9a31'>a</span><span style='color:BLUE'>i</span><span style='color:#008200'>l</span><span style='color:BLACK'>.</span><span style='color:#8449a5'>com </span><span style='color:BLACK'>: <u>What</u> is it?</span><br>It's ONLINE <span style='color:#FF0000'><span style='font-size:10pt;line-height:100%'>NOW</span></span>!!!pm me for url. max 250 users. by invite only please. |

Hi Sharmila,
Guest Wrote:i need signout button detatil.Does disabling "Un-Prefix URLs" fix it? It is a Web page filter. If yes, you could try replacing that filter with Code: [Patterns]If no, you need to tell us more. Which page has the problem? Are you using the filters that came with the Proxomitron? |
