Forums / Wiki Integration - Kye-U - Jul. 17, 2007 03:08 AM http://prxbx.com/ I've dived into the Wiki software code and modified it in such a way that it pulls your username and salted passwords (they are very secure, don't worry), from the database, and it checks to see if you've logged into the Wiki. When you log into the Wiki, it automatically registers you using your exact same password and username. Once you've logged in, you can start creating/editing right away!
RE: Forums / Wiki Integration - ProxRocks - Jul. 17, 2007 11:18 AM hmm, thinking out loud, is there a way for the wiki to use the cookie already set in the forums? RE: Forums / Wiki Integration - Kye-U - Jul. 17, 2007 02:19 PM There surely is a way; I'd have to rewrite our Wiki's authentication system, but it shouldn't be that painful. (Thanks for pointing that out) ![]() When I find more time, I'll have a good long look. EDIT: I had a quick look, looks easier than I thought. All modifications will have to be made in the forum software. EDIT 2: I've made some progress. I was able to automatically set the Wiki username and password cookies if you logged into the forums, but the Wiki also sets a session cookie, so you are not *yet* automatically logged into the Wiki. I have to head off to class now. I'll look where the session cookie is being called/checked after class.
RE: Forums / Wiki Integration - Kye-U - Apr. 22, 2008 05:56 AM Holy cow, I just checked the site, and I saw that comments were enabled, and that there were over 357 spam comments! I immediately deleted the wiki, as it was not really used. I just got the idea of running Wordpress, and allowing different members to post updates and such I'll be working on it. I have an exam this coming Wednesday, so I'll try to get as much done as possible tonight.EDIT: New website is now up! http://prxbx.com/ RE: Forums / Wiki Integration - elshaddai - Apr. 23, 2008 01:32 AM Nice, I just subscribed to the entries RSS feed RE: Forums / Wiki Integration - Kye-U - Apr. 23, 2008 02:58 AM ![]() I've changed the settings so all registered users are set as "Contributors" - "somebody who can write and manage their posts but not publish posts". For now, I will be the one who approving entries, creating categories, or assigning elevated roles to people who either request it and provide a good reason why, or to people who have been long-time or significant contributors to Proxomitron. |
