Can e-mail be anonymized with Proxo-Tor-SocksCap? - Sam the Cat - Jul. 07, 2005 06:41 PM Hello, All -- I've been using the Proxo-Tor-SocksCap setup to surf anonymously with Firefox 1.0.4 and IE 6. It's beautiful. However, I sent myself a test e-mail, and my true IP address was shown there as big as life. I don't know if this has already been addressed here, and, if so, I apologize. However, is there any way to use the Proxo-Tor-SocksCap setup to send e-mail anonymously, specifically through Outlook Express, MS Outlook and Mozilla Thunderbird? If not, are there any other ways of doing it? My thanks to everyone here who has contributed so much info in the threads that deal with anonymous surfing. I have learned an enormous amount from you all. Info like that is invaluable to an average Joe like me who is not a programmer or a power user. Great stuff, guys. Thanks so much for it. And thanks to anyone who can address my specific question here. And remember what a sage once said: just because I'm paranoid doesn't mean the world is still not out to get me. Thanks again. Stay well. - Kye-U - Jul. 07, 2005 07:44 PM If you use a web-based E-Mail account, you can But using a POP3 client, such as the three you specified, the setup will not anonymize you as Tor does not support POP3 ![]() Thanks again
- Shea - Jul. 07, 2005 09:37 PM They said on their page that they will never support it because they don't want it to become a tool for spammers. - Sam the Cat - Jul. 09, 2005 12:49 AM Hello, Kye-U and Shea -- Well, I had a feeling that this would be the answer. But such is life. It is a jungle out there, but I guess I'll have to learn to live with it. :-) Anyway, thanks again very much for your help. Take care. Stay well. - Oniontears - Jul. 19, 2005 05:56 AM you could try this: http://www.skuz.net/potatoware/jbn2/index.html |
