how could i get proxomitron to load a config of my choosing when it starts? it always reverts back to the default config when it starts.
is the only way to do it, to set the desired config as the default?

what's wrong with just naming the default something else and then naming the config that you WANT loaded at startup as "default"?

Try adding the desired config's name to the shortcut.
Right click on the shortcut, select "Properties", select "Shortcut", add the name (in quotes) to the "target"
example:

C:\Users\mine\Programs\ProxN45j\Proxomitron.exe "sidki_2011-12-22rc1.ptron", click "Apply" or "OK".
