is it IE itself downgrading its version for google?

upd. my bad. issue closed, was already discussed here http://prxbx.com/forums/showthread.php?tid=1617
strangely google.com was in the IE compatibility view site list.
i see Maxthon in the UA...
so there is another issue "in the mix" here...

if you "install" Maxthon, you're likely not to bump into this (not confirmed, i 'never' use "installed" browser versions), but if, like me, you use *PORTABLE* versions of 'IE shells', then there is a registry setting that i "portabalize" into my 'IE shells' (a reg setting that deletes itself when i use the 'safe to remove' icon to eject my USB)...

i first noticed this with GreenBrowser (my "default" browser)...
even if you have IE8 'installed', GreenBrowser would NEVER send an IE8 UA like it is "supposed to"...

the fix is this registry setting, only with it have i noticed my browser shell sending an IE8 UA, otherwise it would ONLY send IE7 -
Code:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\MAIN\FeatureControl\FEATURE_BROWSER_EMULATION]
"GreenBrowser.exe"=dword:00001f40
