Anyone in here have any experience with video cards that have a TV output?

I ran into one about 5 or 6 years ago and it *sucked* BIG TIME...

I'm curious as to how the technology has improved since then...


The two or three that I tried several years back was un-readable at any PC display resolution over 800x600 (with Windows Theme set to Large or Extra Large fonts *AND* the 120-DPI setting vs. the standard 96)... TOTALLY UN-READABLE (and I have 20/15 vision, a step BETTER than 20/20)...

Sure, the POS "would" display higher resolutions, but do *NOT* expect to be able to READ it... And above I don't recall what resolution, the d@mn thing did *NOT* display the entire PC screen - it would "crop" it and you'd have to "pan-and-scan" to see the whole PC screen...

Needless to say, I was *NOT* satisfied - AT ALL!...


So, any wits of wisdom from any of you all?

apparently it is difficult to read text on the tv display, something to do with interlacing and progressive scanning and the low resolutions on tv's. You may get a readable text on s-video with a 640x 480 .

ah, I was suspecting that might be the case...
guess I'll try again in 4 to 6 years after HDTV prices come down, lol...

Now if we could only have Proxomitron for television viewing , then maybe I would buy a new HDTV !
